Luxury Event Entertainment

What the word is supposed to mean

Matteo Cammisa · Magician & Mentalist

Luxury event entertainment is usually defined by what it costs. It is more useful to define it by what it does not do: interrupt, demand production, embarrass a guest, or look the same at every event it appears at. Matteo Cammisa performs at luxury weddings, galas and private events worldwide, from $2,500.

Four things that separate the tier

It is chosen live, not delivered. A set act performs the same material in the same order at every booking. At this tier the room decides — which group wants to be astonished and which wants to be charmed, which guest should hold the card, which table is mid-conversation and should be left alone. That judgement is invisible when it is done well and painfully obvious when it is not.

It does not need anything. No stage, no sound, no lighting change, no rider, no changeover, no technical rehearsal. At an event where the production schedule is already the critical path, entertainment that adds nothing to it is worth more than entertainment that is slightly better and costs an hour of the load-in.

It protects the guests. Nobody is brought up to be embarrassed, nobody is made the joke, and the guest who does not want to be photographed is known about before the evening starts. In rooms where the guest list is the point, this is not etiquette — it is the job.

It is built to be photographed. Reaction shots from a close-up performance are frequently the strongest candid images from an evening, because they are the only moment where a room of composed people stops being composed. Working with the photographer rather than in front of them is a deliberate part of the booking.

Matteo moves through the room during drinks or dinner and performs for small groups at a time. No stage, no microphone, no soundcheck — the whole show happens at arm's length.

Working with planners

Most bookings at this tier come through a planner rather than directly from the host, and the working relationship matters as much as the performance. That means arriving with the timeline already read, confirming the window rather than negotiating it on the night, and never being the supplier who needs finding.

It also means being honest about where the performance does not belong. There are evenings where the answer is a shorter booking, or a different part of the night, or genuinely nothing at all — and saying so is the reason planners rebook.

Matteo performs in English, Italian and Hungarian, and takes bookings worldwide, year-round — across the European and American seasons alike.

Matteo Cammisa is a member of The Magic Circle in London, of FISM — the international federation of magic societies — and of the Society of American Magicians. Twenty years of performing, more than 500 events, over 30 countries.

Frequently asked

What counts as luxury event entertainment?

Not a price band so much as a set of behaviours: material chosen for the room rather than delivered from a set, no production demands, no guest put in an uncomfortable position, and a performer who works with the planner and the photographer rather than around them. Any act can be expensive; these are the things that are hard to buy.

What is the difference between a luxury magician and a party magician?

Almost everything except the word. A party magician performs a set: the same routine, in the same order, whoever is in the room. What Matteo does is closer to hosting — the material is chosen live for the people in front of him, it is built to be photographed, and it is timed around your evening rather than interrupting it. The practical difference shows up in the details: how he dresses, how he works with your planner, whether he needs anything from the venue, and what the room sounds like ten minutes after he leaves.

What are good entertainment ideas for a high-end party?

The reliable answer is entertainment that fits the gaps rather than commanding the evening. Arrival drinks, the pause before dinner, the intervals between courses — these are the parts of a night where guests have nothing to do, and filling them changes the whole evening's energy without touching the programme. Anything requiring a stage and a slot is competing with the parts of the night you already planned.

Do you work with wedding and event planners?

Most bookings at this tier come through one. In practice that means the timeline is read before arrival, the performance window is confirmed rather than negotiated on the night, and the planner never has to look for the supplier. Where the honest answer is a shorter booking or a different slot, that is said in advance rather than discovered afterwards.

How much does it cost to book Matteo Cammisa?

Bookings start from $2,500. The figure moves with the format, the length of the evening, the number of guests and where in the world the event is. Fees are quoted per event rather than per hour, because what you are booking is presence across a window of the evening, not a block of stage time. Tell Matteo the date, the city and roughly how many guests, and you will have a firm figure within 24 hours.

Is Matteo available for events worldwide?

Yes — Matteo Cammisa performs worldwide, year-round, and has done so at more than 500 events across over 30 countries. Wherever the event is, send the date, the city and roughly how many guests, and you will have availability and a firm figure within 24 hours. Where travel applies, it is quoted separately and transparently.
