Close-up, guest to guest
Matteo moves through the room during drinks or dinner and performs for small groups at a time. No stage, no microphone, no soundcheck — the whole show happens at arm's length.
From $2,500
Hiring a mentalist means booking a performance built on thought and choice rather than props — either close-up for small groups or as a seated piece for a full room. Matteo Cammisa performs mentalism at private celebrations, weddings and corporate evenings worldwide, from $2,500.
Close-up, for small groups. Matteo moves through a reception or dinner and performs for six or eight guests at a time. At this distance mentalism is unnervingly direct: the guest thinks of something, says nothing, and the answer arrives anyway. It is the version that produces the reactions people describe afterwards in the first person.
Seated, for the whole room. A twenty to thirty minute piece where everybody participates at once — a room arriving at the same thought, a decision anticipated before it is made. This is the version that unifies an evening, and it is what most corporate dinners and larger weddings book.
Most events that book mentalism book both, and in that order: close-up through drinks to warm the room, the seated piece after dinner to bring it back together. They are not alternatives so much as two halves of an evening.
What neither version does is claim to be supernatural. Matteo presents mentalism as what it is — psychology, attention, suggestion and technique. Audiences find that more interesting than a claim they would have to pretend to believe, and it is the only version that survives a room of sceptics, which every good room contains.

From $2,500

A seated, focused piece for the full room, built around thought, choice and influence rather than props. Runs 20 to 30 minutes and works as the pivot between dinner and the rest of the evening.
From $2,500

A full theatrical set for a seated audience, with close-up work projected live to screen where the room is large enough to need it.
On request
Private celebrations where the host wants one thing nobody at the table has seen before — a milestone birthday, an anniversary, a dinner at home for twenty people.
Weddings, usually as the seated piece after dinner rather than during the cocktail hour, where close-up magic tends to serve better.
Corporate evenings and gala dinners, covered in more depth on the corporate mentalist page.
Matteo performs in English, Italian and Hungarian. Mentalism depends more on language than magic does — the material is verbal — so this matters more here than anywhere else on the site.
Matteo Cammisa is a member of The Magic Circle in London, of FISM — the international federation of magic societies — and of the Society of American Magicians. Twenty years of performing, more than 500 events, over 30 countries.

A mentalist performs with thought rather than objects: anticipating a freely made choice, revealing something a guest has only thought of, bringing a whole room to the same word. There is very little to look at, which is the point — the interest is in the audience's own decisions rather than in apparatus.
A magician works with objects — cards, coins, borrowed items — and the impossibility is physical. A mentalist works with thoughts and choices, and the impossibility is that nothing physical appears to have happened at all. Matteo performs both, and most events book a blend: magic close-up during drinks, mentalism seated after dinner.
No. It is psychology, suggestion, attention and technique, presented honestly as a performance. Anyone claiming otherwise is asking you to pretend, and the performance is stronger without that — a room that knows it is being fooled brilliantly enjoys it more than a room being asked to believe something untrue.
There is no minimum that matters. The seated format works from about twenty guests to several hundred; below that, close-up mentalism at the table is the better shape. For very large rooms the piece is extended and projected so the detail is visible from the back.
Bookings start from $2,500. The figure moves with the format, the length of the evening, the number of guests and where in the world the event is. Fees are quoted per event rather than per hour, because what you are booking is presence across a window of the evening, not a block of stage time. Tell Matteo the date, the city and roughly how many guests, and you will have a firm figure within 24 hours.
