The Budapest corporate evening

A large share of Budapest's corporate calendar is written abroad. The city is one of Europe's most-booked incentive destinations: a group flies in for three days, and somebody in a head office in Munich, Milan or London has to fill one gala evening in a room they have never stood in, for guests who do not share a first language.

That evening is where entertainment is usually chosen badly. A band fills the room with sound and stops conversation; a comedian works in one language and in one culture's references; a stage act needs a technical rider the venue has to approve. Close-up magic solves all three at once — it moves through the reception while people are still arriving, it plays to five people at a time, and it needs nothing from the building.

For the seated part of the night, a mentalism set piece gives the room a shared twenty minutes without turning the evening into a show. It is the pivot between dinner and whatever comes after, and it is the piece people describe to colleagues the following week.

Matteo works the venues these programmes actually use — the international hotels along the Danube and Andrássy út, the palace salons, the rooftop bars — and has performed at W Budapest, the Four Seasons Hotel Budapest, Matild Palace and the Budapest Marriott.

What Budapest corporate books

Close-up, guest to guest

Close-up, guest to guest

Matteo moves through the room during drinks or dinner and performs for small groups at a time. No stage, no microphone, no soundcheck — the whole show happens at arm's length. Typically booked from 30 minutes to two hours, sized to the cocktail hour or the dinner it covers.

Mentalism set piece

A seated, focused piece for the full room, built around thought, choice and influence rather than props. Runs 20 to 30 minutes and works as the pivot between dinner and the rest of the evening.

From €3,000

Stage show

Stage show

A full theatrical set for a seated audience, with close-up work projected live to screen where the room is large enough to need it.

Why it works for an international guest list

Three working languages — English, Hungarian and Italian — so a mixed European guest list gets one evening rather than a translated one.

No stage, no sound, no lighting, no rider. Nothing for the hotel's events team to approve and nothing to load in through a historic service corridor.

It is built to be photographed. The reactions are the content your communications team was going to have to manufacture anyway.

Matteo Cammisa is a member of The Magic Circle in London, of FISM — the international federation of magic societies — and of the Society of American Magicians. Twenty years of performing, more than 500 events, over 30 countries.

Frequently asked

What entertainment works for a corporate event in Budapest?

Entertainment that survives a mixed guest list and a historic venue. Most Budapest corporate evenings mix Hungarian hosts with visiting colleagues and clients, in rooms where staging and amplification are restricted. Close-up magic needs neither and depends on no shared language; a mentalism set piece gives the room its shared twenty minutes without taking the evening over.

Can you perform for an incentive group visiting Budapest?

Yes — it is one of the most common bookings here. Matteo performs across Budapest for visiting groups, and can work the welcome reception, the gala dinner or both.

Do you work with event agencies and DMCs?

Regularly. Agencies get a single point of contact, a firm figure within 24 hours, no technical rider, and an act that arrives on time and dressed for the room. Where a client needs it, Matteo can invoice through his Hungarian company.

How much does it cost to book Matteo Cammisa?

Bookings start from €2,500. The figure moves with the format, the length of the evening, the number of guests and where in the world the event is. Fees are quoted per event rather than per hour, because what you are booking is presence across a window of the evening, not a block of stage time. Tell Matteo the date, the city and roughly how many guests, and you will have a firm figure within 24 hours.

How far in advance should I book?

For a specific date in high season, three to six months is comfortable. Shorter notice is often possible and worth asking about: dates open up, and Matteo holds a small amount of the calendar for late corporate bookings. The honest answer is that the date either exists or it does not, and one message settles it.

Is Matteo available for events worldwide?

Yes — Matteo Cammisa performs worldwide, year-round, and has done so at more than 500 events across over 30 countries. Wherever the event is, send the date, the city and roughly how many guests, and you will have availability and a firm figure within 24 hours. Where travel applies, it is quoted separately and transparently.
