Why mentalism, and why here

Mentalism is the part of the evening that adults choose for themselves. It is not a trick with a deck; it is twenty minutes in which a room watches thoughts, decisions and hesitations be read back to them, and then spends the rest of the night arguing about how.

It is also the format that cares most about language — which is exactly why it is worth saying that Matteo performs in English, Hungarian and Italian rather than in one of them. In a Budapest ballroom where the hosts are Hungarian and half the guests are not, a mentalist who works in one language leaves most of the room outside the piece.

The practical shape is a seated set piece of twenty to thirty minutes, placed between dinner and the rest of the evening. Nothing is amplified beyond a handheld microphone, nothing is staged, and the piece can be built around the company, the couple or the occasion rather than delivered off the shelf.

Matteo has performed mentalism at galas and corporate evenings in Budapest and internationally, including a stage show with live close-up projection at the International SGS Dental Congress gala in Dubai.

How the mentalism is booked

Close-up, guest to guest

Close-up, guest to guest

Matteo moves through the room during drinks or dinner and performs for small groups at a time. No stage, no microphone, no soundcheck — the whole show happens at arm's length. Typically booked from 30 minutes to two hours, sized to the cocktail hour or the dinner it covers.

Why it lands with a Budapest audience

It is written for adults. No volunteers made to look foolish, no host displaced, nobody the joke.

Three working languages — English, Hungarian and Italian — so the piece includes a mixed European room instead of playing to part of it.

It needs almost nothing: a handheld microphone and the room's attention for twenty minutes.

Matteo Cammisa is a member of The Magic Circle in London, of FISM — the international federation of magic societies — and of the Society of American Magicians. Twenty years of performing, more than 500 events, over 30 countries.

Frequently asked

What is the difference between a magician and a mentalist?

A magician shows you something impossible happening in front of you. A mentalist works with what is already in your head — a choice, a memory, a number you never said out loud. Matteo does both, and most Budapest events book the combination: close-up magic through the reception, a mentalism piece after dinner.

How long is the mentalism piece?

Twenty to thirty minutes, seated, usually placed between dinner and the rest of the evening. It can be extended into a full stage set where the room and the programme call for it.

Does it work for a Hungarian and international audience together?

Yes — that is the normal case in Budapest. Matteo performs in English, Hungarian and Italian, and the piece is built for the room in front of him rather than delivered in one fixed language.

How much does it cost to book Matteo Cammisa?

Bookings start from €2,500. The figure moves with the format, the length of the evening, the number of guests and where in the world the event is. Fees are quoted per event rather than per hour, because what you are booking is presence across a window of the evening, not a block of stage time. Tell Matteo the date, the city and roughly how many guests, and you will have a firm figure within 24 hours.

How far in advance should I book?

For a specific date in high season, three to six months is comfortable. Shorter notice is often possible and worth asking about: dates open up, and Matteo holds a small amount of the calendar for late corporate bookings. The honest answer is that the date either exists or it does not, and one message settles it.

Is Matteo available for events worldwide?

Yes — Matteo Cammisa performs worldwide, year-round, and has done so at more than 500 events across over 30 countries. Wherever the event is, send the date, the city and roughly how many guests, and you will have availability and a firm figure within 24 hours. Where travel applies, it is quoted separately and transparently.
