London Wedding Magician

The drinks reception is the whole game

Matteo Cammisa · Magician & Mentalist

London weddings have the longest drinks reception in Europe — the photographs, the room turn, the wait — and it is the stretch guests remember least. Matteo Cammisa performs close-up magic through exactly that window, guest to guest. Bookings from €2,500.

Where it fits a London wedding day

The London wedding has a structural feature couples only notice afterwards: between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast sits an hour and a half of drinks — the couple is with the photographer, the room is being turned, and two families who have never met are standing in their own circles with glasses of champagne.

Close-up magic occupies that stretch without taking a minute from the day. Matteo moves between groups, performs for six or eight guests at a time, and the mixing happens as a side effect — a shared impossible moment is the fastest introduction two families can be given.

The second window is the wedding breakfast itself, table to table between courses; the third is the evening reception, where a later crowd arrives and the day needs a second wind before the band.

The venues run from Mayfair hotels and Nash terraces to livery halls, Syon-style estates and marquees in Surrey — and the format's total absence of requirements matters in all of them.

Notes for couples and planners

Nothing is needed from the venue — no stage, no sound, no power — which in listed buildings and marquees alike removes a whole category of planning.

It works with the photographer, not in front of them: reaction shots from the drinks reception are often the only candid images of that stretch of the day.

No guest is embarrassed and no guest is made the joke — at a wedding, that commitment matters more than anywhere.

Frequently asked

When during a London wedding should a magician perform?

The drinks reception first — it is the longest unscripted stretch of the day and the one guests remember least. The wedding breakfast is the natural second window, table to table between courses. The evening reception works as a third when a later crowd arrives and the day needs a second wind.

How much is a wedding magician in London?

From €2,500, quoted per event rather than per hour. The figure moves with how much of the day is covered — the drinks reception alone, or reception plus breakfast plus evening — more than with guest count.

Does it work in a marquee or a listed building?

Both are common London-area settings and both are easy: the format needs no stage, sound, lighting or power. In a marquee that removes a generator conversation; in a listed room it removes a permissions one.

How much does it cost to book Matteo Cammisa?

Bookings start from $2,500. The figure moves with the format, the length of the evening, the number of guests and where in the world the event is. Fees are quoted per event rather than per hour, because what you are booking is presence across a window of the evening, not a block of stage time. Tell Matteo the date, the city and roughly how many guests, and you will have a firm figure within 24 hours.

How far in advance should I book?

For a specific date in high season, three to six months is comfortable. Shorter notice is often possible and worth asking about: dates open up, and Matteo holds a small amount of the calendar for late corporate bookings. The honest answer is that the date either exists or it does not, and one message settles it.

Is Matteo available for events worldwide?

Yes — Matteo Cammisa performs worldwide, year-round, and has done so at more than 500 events across over 30 countries. Wherever the event is, send the date, the city and roughly how many guests, and you will have availability and a firm figure within 24 hours. Where travel applies, it is quoted separately and transparently.
