The welcome reception. Delegates arrive across a two-hour window, know two people each, and stand in company-shaped clusters. No scheduled act can reach a crowd that assembles gradually; a performer moving through it can.
Session breaks. Fifteen minutes, phones out, attention dropping session by session across a three-day agenda. This is the cheapest available intervention in the whole programme and it is almost always left empty.
