Matteo Cammisa is an Italian magician and mentalist who performs close-up magic at villa weddings on Lake Como — Cernobbio, Bellagio, Tremezzo and Varenna — including a wedding at Villa d'Este. He works guest to guest through cocktail hour and dinner, in Italian and English.

The Setting

Weddings on Lake Como

Lake Como weddings are held in villas whose gardens are the reason you chose them. The grand houses of Cernobbio, Bellagio and Tremezzo were built to be looked at, which is why entertainment here has to add something without competing with the setting.

Close-up magic sits inside the evening rather than interrupting it. It needs no stage and no sound, it happens where your guests are already standing, and it gives an international guest list — the norm at Como — something to react to together.

The Experience

Why couples add magic to the day

Built for an international guest list

Como weddings routinely mix four or five nationalities. Magic needs no shared language to land, which makes it the one thing in the evening that works identically for every guest in the room.

No production footprint

No stage, sound, lighting or load-in — nothing that a villa's event manager has to approve, and nothing that appears in your photographs.

A venue that already knows him

Matteo has performed at a wedding at Villa d'Este. He understands how the lake's grand houses run an evening, and what their teams expect from a supplier.

Italian, natively

He coordinates with Italian venue teams and suppliers in their own language, while keeping English-speaking guests fully inside the experience.

Your Day

Where it fits in the running order

  1. 01

    Welcome drinks

The hardest part of a destination wedding is that half your guests have never met. Close-up magic gives strangers something to react to together — the fastest way to turn two guest lists into one room.

  2. 02

    Cocktail hour

The gap while you're away with the photographer is the single best hour for magic. Guests are standing, drinking and unoccupied. Matteo moves group to group so nobody is left waiting.

  3. 03

    Dinner, table to table

Between courses, Matteo visits each table for a few minutes. It keeps the evening moving through the long stretches of a seated dinner, and every table gets a moment that belongs to them.

  4. 04

A moment for the two of you

Optional, and often the piece couples remember most: something staged privately for the bride and groom, away from the room, that the photographer can catch.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know

Have you performed at Lake Como venues before?+

Yes — including a wedding at Villa d'Este in Cernobbio. Matteo travels across the lake for villa weddings, welcome dinners and private celebrations.

Does close-up magic actually suit an elegant villa wedding?+

It's the format most suited to one. There is no stage, no microphone and no comedy routine — it is performed quietly at conversational distance, for four or five guests at a time, and reads as an intimate detail rather than a show.

When during the day does it work best?+

Cocktail hour is the strongest slot — guests are standing, unoccupied, and you are usually away with the photographer. Welcome drinks the evening before and table-to-table magic between dinner courses both work well. Most couples book two of the three.

Do you travel across the whole lake?+

Yes — Cernobbio, Bellagio, Tremezzo, Varenna, Menaggio and Como itself. Travel is included in the packages above; for weddings further afield, accommodation is usually covered by the venue or added to the quote.

What languages do you perform in?+

Italian, English and Hungarian. Como guest lists are usually international, and Matteo switches per group without breaking the flow.

How far in advance should we book?+

For peak season — May through September — most couples book nine to twelve months out. Matteo takes a limited number of weddings per season so that each one gets a full day rather than a slot.

What do you need from the villa?+

Nothing technical. No stage, power, sound or lighting. Just a note in the running order and somewhere to leave a jacket.
