The Setting

Weddings on Porto Cervo

The Costa Smeralda hosts the most discreetly expensive weddings in Italy: villa estates behind the granite hills, hotel terraces above coves the yachts anchor in, guest lists that arrive by tender and prefer not to be photographed. The register is quiet money — and the entertainment brief is correspondingly exact: world-class, and invisible until it happens.

Close-up magic is built for that brief. Nothing is announced, nothing is staged; a performer moves through the aperitivo as a guest would, and the first thing anyone knows is something impossible in their own hands. Discretion — around photography, names and the room's quieter guests — is part of the craft, not an accommodation.

Matteo has performed on this coast — at Li Finistreddi, above the Costa Smeralda — and works its weddings natively in Italian with venue teams and in English with the international guest lists the coast draws.

The Experience

Why couples add magic to the day

Fills the gap the day already has

Cocktail hour is the longest unscripted stretch of a wedding — the couple is with the photographer and two families stand in their own circles. Close-up magic occupies exactly that window and mixes the room as a side effect.

Nothing required from the venue

No stage, no sound, no lighting, no power. A clifftop terrace, a beach club or a villa courtyard is exactly as workable as a ballroom — which at a destination wedding removes a whole category of planning.

Works across languages

The impossible moment happens in the guest's own hands and needs no translation. Matteo performs in English and Italian — at a destination wedding, the difference between everyone being included and half the room watching politely.

Built to be photographed

Reaction shots from close-up magic are often the strongest candid images of the cocktail hour. Matteo works with the photographer rather than in front of them.

Your Day

Where it fits in the running order

  1. 01

    Welcome drinks

The hardest part of a destination wedding is that half your guests have never met. Close-up magic gives strangers something to react to together — the fastest way to turn two guest lists into one room.

  2. 02

    Cocktail hour

The gap while you're away with the photographer is the single best hour for magic. Guests are standing, drinking and unoccupied. Matteo moves group to group so nobody is left waiting.

  3. 03

    Dinner, table to table

Between courses, Matteo visits each table for a few minutes. It keeps the evening moving through the long stretches of a seated dinner, and every table gets a moment that belongs to them.

  4. 04

A moment for the two of you

Optional, and often the piece couples remember most: something staged privately for the bride and groom, away from the room, that the photographer can catch.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know

Have you performed in Sardinia before?+

Yes — at Li Finistreddi, on the Costa Smeralda's doorstep. The coast's register — discreet, high-end, international — is the register this practice is built for.

What entertainment suits a Costa Smeralda wedding?+

Entertainment that is invisible until it happens. These weddings run on quiet exclusivity — nothing announced, nothing staged — and close-up magic keeps that register: a performer moving through the aperitivo as a guest would, discretion around photography as standard.

Do you cover the rest of Sardinia?+

Yes — Porto Rotondo, San Pantaleo, the Maddalena archipelago side, and south to the island's other coasts. Boats and transfers change nothing for a performer with no equipment.

How far ahead should a Sardinia wedding book?+

June to September, with July peak. The Costa Smeralda's hotels book their event spaces early; for entertainment, six to twelve months out is comfortable.
