The Setting

Weddings on Positano

Positano is vertical: the village stacks from the beach to the ridge, and its wedding venues are terraces cut into that stack — hotel gardens, cliffside restaurants, villas reached by staircase. Nothing arrives here easily. A band's equipment comes up by porter; a performer whose setup is a deck of cards simply walks up.

The terrace evening has the coast's signature rhythm: ceremony as the light softens, aperitivo against the view, dinner as the village lights come on below. Close-up magic works those first two movements — the long photographed hour when guests hold their drinks and the couple is away against the cliff — and then the tables between courses.

This stretch of coast is also where Matteo's Italian wedding record lives: Villa d'Este on Lake Como, Torre San Marco on Garda — the lakeside register of the same Italian luxury-wedding world, performed natively in Italian and English.

The Experience

Why couples add magic to the day

Fills the gap the day already has

Cocktail hour is the longest unscripted stretch of a wedding — the couple is with the photographer and two families stand in their own circles. Close-up magic occupies exactly that window and mixes the room as a side effect.

Nothing required from the venue

No stage, no sound, no lighting, no power. A clifftop terrace, a beach club or a villa courtyard is exactly as workable as a ballroom — which at a destination wedding removes a whole category of planning.

Works across languages

The impossible moment happens in the guest's own hands and needs no translation. Matteo performs in English and Italian — at a destination wedding, the difference between everyone being included and half the room watching politely.

Built to be photographed

Reaction shots from close-up magic are often the strongest candid images of the cocktail hour. Matteo works with the photographer rather than in front of them.

Your Day

Where it fits in the running order

  1. 01

    Welcome drinks

The hardest part of a destination wedding is that half your guests have never met. Close-up magic gives strangers something to react to together — the fastest way to turn two guest lists into one room.

  2. 02

    Cocktail hour

The gap while you're away with the photographer is the single best hour for magic. Guests are standing, drinking and unoccupied. Matteo moves group to group so nobody is left waiting.

  3. 03

    Dinner, table to table

Between courses, Matteo visits each table for a few minutes. It keeps the evening moving through the long stretches of a seated dinner, and every table gets a moment that belongs to them.

  4. 04

A moment for the two of you

Optional, and often the piece couples remember most: something staged privately for the bride and groom, away from the room, that the photographer can catch.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know

What wedding entertainment works on a Positano terrace?+

Entertainment that climbs stairs. Positano's venues are terraces reached by staircase — equipment arrives by porter or not at all — and a performance whose entire setup is a jacket pocket is the one act the village's geography cannot complicate. No stage, no sound, no footprint on a terrace where every square metre is set for dinner.

Do you cover the rest of the Amalfi Coast?+

Yes — Praiano, Ravello, Amalfi and across to Sorrento. The coast's weddings share one geography (terraces, views, stairs) and one solution.

Do you perform in Italian?+

Natively — with the venue staff, the Italian family and the guests alike, switching to English mid-table where the guest list mixes. At an Amalfi Coast wedding that seam is exactly where the performance lives.

How far ahead should a Positano wedding book?+

The famous terraces book their Saturdays a year or more out, May to October. For entertainment, six to twelve months is comfortable; one message settles a date.
